'Cities: Skylines' DLCNews: Game Treats Fans With Free DLC for Its New Sales Milestone
"Cities: Skylines" has sold 3.5 million copies and Paradox Interactive intends to celebrate this achievement with a free downloadable content (DLC).
It will be called "Pearls from the East" and will come with three new in-game buildings inspired by Chinese architecture, namely Panda Zoo, Chinese Temple and Shanghai Pearl Tower.
In a statement, Paradox said that this free "Cities: Skyline" DLC will bring "a splash of style to mayor-players' cities." It did not say when it will be out, but the publisher noted it will be "soon."
Talking about the success of the game, whose sales milestone comes on the second anniversary of its release, Paradox Interactive CEO Fredrik Wester said that "Cities: Skylines" has been a record-breaker since day one.
"The game had our biggest launch in history at the time, selling 250,000 copies in its first 24 hours, and the community has only gotten bigger and more devoted over the last two years," he said.
Wester is amazed of how people remain as excited as they were a couple of years back. He went on to thank Colossal Order, who developed "Cities: Skyline," and the players who made all of it possible.
Colossal Order CEO Mariina Hallikainen, on the other hand, says that "Cities: Skylines" changed her and her team's lives in big ways.
"This is a game we had all been working on and dreaming about creating for years. Seeing how many people have rallied around it, and seeing the incredible community sharing their cities and mods has been so rewarding and inspiring. On behalf of our entire team, thank you so much to all of our players for your ongoing support," she said.
"Pearls from the East" is not the only content coming to "Cities: Skylines" soon. The game is also getting a Mass Transit update, enabling monorails, cable cars and flying blimps to be added.
