Cleveland Browns NFL Trade Rumors: Browns Willing to Trade 12th Overall Pick for Jimmy Garoppolo
With so many conflicting reports regarding New England Patriots backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo's availability in trade talks, observers are probably a little confused by now. Are they going to trade him or not? Because if they are, the Cleveland Browns are ready to give them a first-round draft pick for the quarterback.
Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot has reported that the Browns want to trade this year's 12th overall pick to the Patriots in exchange for Garoppolo. She said they were also planning to select Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett with the first overall pick.
According to Cabot, this would be the Browns' "dream scenario." However, the price for Garoppolo might be a little steep. "One source told me he believes it might take as much as a No. 1 this year and No. 1 next year — which I'm sure the Browns won't be willing to do," Cabot said in her report.
"But if New England will accept their No. 12 overall pick and maybe another later selection, I think the Browns would strongly consider that. They'd come away with their franchise player on defense and their franchise quarterback, and that would be a grand slam first round," she continued.
That's quite a dream scenario. If they can convince the Patriots to part with Garoppolo by dangling the 12th overall pick and a lower-round pick then they should pull the trigger. They desperately need an upgrade at quarterback.
Garoppolo didn't really play much in his first three seasons in the league. However, he managed to impress a lot of people with his play when he started at quarterback for two games last season.
That's probably the reason why he has found himself at the center of trade rumors in the past few weeks. Teams believe that he can start right now and he probably learned a thing or two playing behind Tom Brady.
