Cleveland Cavaliers Center Tristan Thompson Expected to Miss Three to Four Weeks With Calf Injury
The Cleveland Cavaliers have shuffled their starting lineup several times already since the season started a few weeks ago, but Kevin Love is likely a lock to start at the center position for the next few weeks because Tristan Thompson is currently out with a calf injury.
The Cavaliers have announced that Thompson sustained a left calf strain during the second quarter of their game against the Indiana Pacers last Wednesday and he's expected to miss three to four weeks of action while he recovers.
Thompson is averaging 4.4 points and 6.1 rebounds in eight games (five starts) thus far this season. With him sidelined, reserve forward Channing Frye is expected to see a significant increase in playing time.
Meanwhile, the Cavaliers have struggled badly early this season, and their record has dropped to 4–6 after they failed to pull off a comeback win over the Atlanta Hawks on Sunday. Dwyane Wade had 25 points, 10 rebounds and six assists in what was by far his best game in a Cavaliers uniform, and after the match, the veteran guard called out the team's first unit for falling behind early in games this season.
"It's no secret, we're starting games off awful," Wade said after the game, according to SLAMonline.
"They got it going early and the effort and the focus just wasn't there to start it off. You waste a lot of energy trying to come back from 16, 18 down. It's tough, nightly, to do that. We all know this, it's no secret in this locker room, our first unit, we've got to start off better. I want one time for the first unit to get on the second unit because we blew a lead. I'm waiting for that day to happen," he continued.
Of course, there's no need to panic right now, but the Cavaliers will have to find a way to fix their problems because they are starting to fall behind in the standings.
