Cleveland Cavaliers Favorites to Land Dwyane Wade
Dwyane Wade will finally get the chance to start fresh elsewhere after he reached a buyout agreement with the Chicago Bulls, and he has noted that he's not going to wait long before he makes a decision on his next destination. Well, he will have a lot of choices because a handful of contenders are reportedly interested in signing him.
According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Brian Windhorst, the Miami Heat, San Antonio Spurs and Oklahoma City Thunder are all in the mix for his signature, but the Cleveland Cavaliers remain the favorites to sign Wade.
The Bulls seem to think the 12-time All-Star is heading to Cleveland as well, and cleveland.com's Joe Vardon said a person close to LeBron James believes Wade will ultimately choose the Cavaliers.
The Cavaliers have left the final roster spot open for training camp and James thinks Wade is the perfect player to fill it.
"I would love to have D-Wade a part of this team. I think he brings another championship DNA, championship pedigree. He brings another playmaker to the team who can get guys involved, and make plays, and also just has a great basketball mind," James said during the Cavaliers' annual media day on Monday, via cleveland.com.
"I've talked to D-Wade throughout the whole summer, and I probably will reach out to him as well, but it's really not up to me. It's up to D-Wade if he can clear waivers and then it's up to our front office," he added.
The Cavaliers don't have much to offer Wade. However, they are a top contender for the title next season and he will also get to team up with James if he joins them. The team already has J.R. Smith, Iman Shumpert and Kyle Korver on the roster, but Wade should get significant minutes at the shooting guard position.
