CM Punk News: Crossover Fighter To Face Mickey Gall In First MMA Fight

After defeating Mike Jackson at UFC Fight Night 82 last Feb. 6, UFC fighter Mickey Gall has inadvertently confirmed that he is taking on CM Punk soon. The UFC fighter was heard screaming, "Feed me CM Punk!" after winning the bout through a rear-naked choke submission. This development has left Punk's fans jubilant as more than a year after inking an agreement with UFC, the former WWE superstar will finally have an opponent and showcase his UFC fighting skills.

According to Bleacher Report, UFC President Dana White has, likewise, confirmed Gall's pronouncements, although the exact date of Punk's debut fight as a mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter is yet to be determined. Nonetheless, the report said that White had told Damon Martin of Fox Sports that the fight is likely to happen in June during the UFC 199. The fighting event will he highlighted by the bout between Chris Weidman vs. Luke Rockhold for the middleweight belt.

Punk told reporters after his first fight has been revealed that he is a "mystery" in terms of being an MMA fighter. However, Bleacher Report said that, while the wrestler-turned-MMA fighter doesn't have any MMA record tucked under his belt, his would-be opponent, Gall, could pose more unanswered questions until the night of the fight.

Gall's win last Feb. 6 was only his second in his entire career.

In his interview with Fox Sports, Gall said that he is looking forward to his upcoming fight with Punk. He told reporter Damon Martin:

"I'm excited to fight a superstar. I'm going to beat up a superstar. I'm excited for that."

Meanwhile, Punk had earlier said that he feels flattered that many MMA artists have declared their desire to fight him. In the video of UFC Fight Pass, he said:

"Everybody has mentioned my name and said they'd like to fight me, from Michael Bisping to Phil Baroni to Jose Canseco to a few women's bantamweight fighters that said they'd like to fight me. What can I say? I'm the prettiest girl at the prom."
