COGIC Pastor Confesses to Sex Crimes
The North Carolina Pastor recently arrested and charged with several counts of sex abuse, including that of a minor, has reportedly confessed to police.
Faith Temple Church of God in Christ's (COGIC) Pastor, Thomas Archie Wiggins Jr., was charged in Wilmington, N.C. on Tuesday.
The arrest was reportedly made after at least one of the multiple victims came forward in association with sex crimes reportedly dating back to 1998.
During the 54-year-old's first court appearance, prosecutors allegedly told the judge that Wiggins had confessed to the crimes, according to wwaytv3.com.
Although New Hanover County Sheriff's Office, Sergeant Jerry Brewer was unable to confirm the exact number of victims that have come forward, however, some are speculating there could be up to four at this time.
It has also been reported that one of the victims was just 14-years-old at the time of the incident.
Despite the alleged confession, Sergeant Brewer confirmed that Wiggins was released on bail.
Although details of Wiggins' alleged confession are yet to be reveled, sources suggested the damning evidence could lead to jail time.
The shocking allegations follow speculation that accused Bishop Eddie Long, of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church asked his wife to stop her divorce proceedings.
In a statement made public the Bishop's wife, Vanessa Long, said, "After a great deal of deliberation and prayer, I have decided to terminate my marriage to Bishop Eddie L. Long," AJC.com reported.
Just hours later, AJC.com suggested that she had a change of heart, and quoted an email she had supposedly sent out.
"Upon prayerful reflection, I have reconsidered and plan to withdraw my petition for divorce from my husband, Bishop Eddie L. Long."
Members of the Christian community vented their frustrations via social network site Twitter, one user tweeted "COGIC is, and HAS BEEN, OUC, OUT OF CONTROL!!!! This is soooooo sad!!!!."
Sergeant Brewer told The Christian Post that the investigation into Wiggins’ case was "on-going".
