Colbert Report Suspended, No Explanation Given
Comedy Central hit "The Colbert Report" suddenly halted production on Wednesday, and cancelled show taping for both Wednesday and Thursday. There is no explanation for why the show's production is suspended.
"The Colbert Report"'s audience department sent an email notification to ticket holders giving minimal explanation for cancelling the show's taping, according to Third Beat Magazine. The email said, "Due to unforeseen circumstances, we have canceled our taping for the date of your ticket reservation." The email urged ticket holders to apply for another taping date.
Colbertnation.com, the show's website, lists reruns for Wednesday and Thursday as opposed to its previous listing of new episodes featuring guests Claire Danes and Susan Cain for those dates. It is unclear if those guests will be rescheduled, or moved to another date.

"The Colbert Report" production is rarely cancelled. Stephen Colbert has been known to fight through illness so the show can go on. And even when Colbert had jury duty, he managed to keep new episodes airing.
An abrupt cancellation is highly unusual.
"The Daily Show" with Jon Stewart, a similar Comedy Central show that spurred the creation of "The Colbert Report," also rarely suspends production abruptly. Third Beat reports, "The Daily Show has suspended production last-minute due to personal reasons twice during Jon Stewart's reign: once when his second child was born, and once when a staff member passed away suddenly."
Fans of the show turned to Twitter to express their shock and hope that everyone is okay at the Colbert Report camp.
One fan tweeted, "Oh dear. I hope everything's okay."
Another tweeted, "Tragic news, I hope Mr. Colbert and his family are well."
Several worried fans simply tweeted "Nooo!!"
The Colbert Report normally airs on Comedy Central at 11:30 pm Monday through Thursday, with new episodes four times a week.
Fans hope new episodes will return to air on Monday.
