College Football Rankings Released, According to AP Top 25 Poll

A week into the regular college football season, and the results for the “Associated Press College Football” poll have been released.

Although the USC Trojans managed to beat Minnesota on Saturday, they were not able to maintain their top 25 spot in the Associated Press College Football poll.

The former number 25 Trojans team took a 19-17 victory over the Golden Golphers. However, USC still only received 69 votes in the poll that placed them behind Arizona State and Auburn.

LSU had better luck than the Trojans, beating Oregon 40-27 on Saturday, advancing them to the number two spot in the Associated Press Top 25 poll. Before the loss at the Cowboys Stadium, Oregon was number three in the poll.

After the LSU victory, the team received 17 first-place votes in total, after they only received one during preseason.

Much like LSU, Alabama slid past their opposition on Saturday, beating Alabama 48-7. However, the win was not enough to secure the team’s number two spot, right behind Oklahoma.

Alabama took number three after receiving nine top votes. The number four team in the AP poll is Boise State.

The team beat Georgia 35-21 last week, advancing them from the number five spot. The Broncos were the recipients of two first-place votes.

Although they didn’t receive any first place votes, Florida State, Stanford, Texas A&M, Wisconsin, Oklahoma State and Nebraska managed to round off the top 10 in the poll.

A few teams who were not ranked during the preseason managed to make their way into the recent list. The Baylor Bears managed to make it on the list at number 20 after beating the 14th ranked TCU 50-48. USF, Penn State and Texas were also new additions to the top 25 list.
