Meanwhile, New York City is eighth in the league and is one point behind Montreal Impact and Orlando City FC as they try to battle for the Final Series Play-off spots.
They have clearly struggled in recent matches as they have lost three of their last five.
However, they beat DC United in their recent match at home.
In the 3-1 victory, New York City found themselves trailing after the first half, but a goal from Thomas McNamara evened things up.
And with only 10 minutes remaining in normal time, David Villa scored after an assist from Andrea Pirlo to give New York the lead.
Eight minutes later, Kwadwo Poku put the finishing touches with a goal as New York toppled the East leaders.
Now, this will be the first time the two teams will meet so expect a feeling out process early in the match.
For New York City, they must rely on their big names to try and help them move forward and score away from home. Any result would be helpful in their attempts to climb up the ladder.
On the other hand, Columbus should keep their defence strong and try to catch New York City on the counterattack as they also try to get maximum points.
