'Community' Movie News, Update: Series Creator Dan Harmon Talks Season 6 and Movie
The current season of the hit sitcom series "Community" recently ended its 13-episode Season 6 run on Yahoo! Screen and fans are apparently still on the lookout on the confirmation for Season 7 or a full-length feature. Here's what we heard.
Entertainment Weekly interviewed the series creator Dan Harmon and "Ricky and Morty" co-creator Justin Roiland at the ATX Festival in Austin on Saturday. When asked about the possibility of a movie, Harmon said it will probably have to wait.
"I told Yahoo, 'I can't think about writing a movie until I miss Community. They wanted to turn around a do a movie immediately, and Yahoo can get it done. They're like the NSA," he said.
Despite Yahoo's enthusiasm to bring the show to the big screen, Harmon pointed out the obstacles that the project would face. One of which is convening the members of the cast, who are now venturing to other projects.
"The difficulty is in just: Can you get all the actors in the same place again?" Harmon said.
Nonetheless, Harmon was grateful for the opportunity given to his show after it was axed from its original network, NBC, and transferred to the said web streaming service.
"Yahoo was so supportive that I completely self-destructed in season 6. I mean, I had no bad guys left. Yahoo was like Daddy Warbucks just picking Annie up at the orphanage, except in my version, Annie just like starts saying, 'Maybe the sun won't come out tomorrow,' and starts taking Ritalin in her office," he joked.
