Congregants of South Carolina Church Claim Door Shows Face of Jesus

Parishioners of Care Baptist Church in Duncan, South Carolina are claiming to have seen the face of Jesus in the wood grain of a door next to the church's pulpit.

"One day I was sitting in the pew by the door and appeared the image of Jesus, and I was really amazed by it, astonished," congregant Steve Wiatt told KCTV 5 News regarding the Jesus image, which has reportedly been present at the 100-person church since it was built in the 1970's.

"God wanted it out for some reason, maybe he wanted people to see he'll still perform miracles," Wiatt added, attempting to explain what he believes to be the purpose behind the image.

This isn't the first time dedicated Christians have claimed to have seen the image of Jesus in unconventional places.

In August 2012, those visiting the Belfast City Cemetery in west Belfast, Ireland, discovered the image of Jesus Christ in the aging of a tree stump.

In another instance, residents of Kinston, North Carolina, claimed an invasive weed known as kudzu had formed the image of Jesus on a telephone pole in July 2011.

Regardless of the cause of these unexpected Jesus images, many viewers contend that they hold a special meaning for all those who cross their paths.

"Maybe it means something. Maybe look into yourself and see if you need to change something in your life," Chyanna Richards, who witnessed a supposed image of Jesus in an overgrowth of mold on a shower wall in a home in Splendora, Texas, in June 2012, told local ABC 13 News.

"It gives me inspiration just to do better," Thomas George, who also lived in the Splendora house, said of the Jesus image, according to ABC 13 News.
