Conrad Murray Verdict: Web Reaction to Guilty Michael Jackson Verdict
Crowds outside the Los Angeles courthouse where Conrad Murray stood trial for the involuntary manslaughter of Michael Jackson cheered when the guilty verdict was read out today.
Social media was abuzz with reactions, too. Twitter’s servers were tested as many fans and celebrities had something to say about the case. Here are some highlights.
Many on Twitter felt justice was served:
@RyanNewYork: “Conrad Murray is as guilty of the death of Michael Jackson as any drug dealer is when their client overdoses.”
@Rickmusiq06: “Conrad was getting 100,000 dollars a month from Michael Jackson...hes only getting 4 years in prison? thats nothing..he still gone be paid..”
@TheNickyParis: “Dr. Conrad Murray has been found GUILTY for the death of pop star Michael Jackson.................... and the sky is also blue.”
Some commented on the wildly popular nature of the case:
@brokemogul: “dear jury, u have to wait 90 days til you can make exploit the death of Michael Jackson" - LA Judge
@shawnpelofsky: “Dr. Conrad Murray found guilty of involuntary manslaughter of Michael Jackson. I wish he could also take the fall for Kim Kardashian's fame.”
And some used their wit expertly to throw a barb in:
@markjepsen: “Did nobody show the court the letter Michael Jackson wrote urging the jury not to blame Conrad Murray? He said to Blame It on the Boogie.”
@RikiRachtman: “Conrad Murray found guilty in death of Michael Jackson but it makes you wonder if it would have been different if Michael Jackson was black.”
Before the verdict, LaToya Jackson tweeted, “shaking uncontrollably.”
Understandably, none of Jackson’s siblings publicly responded via social media.
Fans spoke to media members outside the courthouse, some crying and some yelling, and generally felt relieved that the verdict was guilty.
Murray will remain in jail until sentencing.
