Cory Monteith Death: Father 'Never Got to Say Goodbye'
Fans of "Glee" paid their respects to Cory Monteith's character, Finn Hudson, during a special tribute episode last night. One person who did not get the same closure is Monteith's father, Joe, who was estranged and claims he never got the chance to say goodbye to his son.
"It's just ripping my insides out and tearing me apart," Monteith told People magazine.
The two Monteith men last saw each other two years ago, but before that they had not had seen one another in 11 years. It was hard for them, given Joe's military career and subsequent divorce from Cory's mother. Joe claims that Cory's mother, Ann McGregor, helped keep them apart but he was able to explain certain incidents at their meeting two years ago.

"One year, she even sent back the Christmas presents that I had sent to the boys," Monteith said.
"Dad, I didn't know that," Cory reportedly responded.
"I think he was a little shocked by it. I said, 'Son, you're a young man now, you have to know the other half of the story.'"
At 29, Cory had a bad reaction to drugs and required serious medical intervention, Joe revealed.
"He got a shot to his heart to bring him back, and he was told at that time to use no drugs of any kind because you had your one shot," Joe said. "He said, 'I won't go there ever again. I'm enjoying myself.' I lost my son. He should have known not to touch that drug again."
Unfortunately, after Cory's death, Joe was not able to see his son's body before cremation. That has caused him a great deal of pain and resentment towards Cory's mother.
"I've always loved both my sons and am going to miss Cory very, very much," Joe previously told TMZ. "I'm saddened at the fact that I couldn't have been there to see my son before he was cremated."
