Could I Be a Missionary Someday?
. . . Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect . . . 1 Peter 3:15
Many missionaries knew when they were children that God wanted them to do that work. How did they know? They spent time with God each day to read His Word and pray. They attended church where they could learn more about God. Perhaps they read missionary stories. They were faithful witnesses right where they lived. Little by little, God put a strong desire in their hearts to do His work as a full-time missionary. Perhaps He even gave them a deep concern for a particular place or people.
Someday, God may ask you to be a missionary. You can prepare now by learning all you can about God. Read His Word and pray. Go to church whenever you can. Also, you can pray for and give to missionaries. Read missionary stories. Most importantly, be a faithful witness where God has placed you.
Don't worry that God will ask you to do something you don't like or something you can't do. If God wants you to be a missionary, He will give you the desire and the ability to do it. Ask God to give you a willing heart to obey Him. Maybe one day, God will ask you to be a missionary!
