'Counting On' News: Season Finale Pays No Attention to Joy-Anna's Pregnancy

Contrary to what fans had expected, Joy-Anna Duggar's pregnancy did not get the spotlight in the "Counting On" finale. Joy-Anna was already pregnant when her brother Joe and his fiancée Kendra Caldwell got married last September, so many expected that this season's final episode would highlight her pregnancy. Unfortunately, that didn't happen.

The "Counting On" season finale last Monday focused on Joe and Kendra's big day and the moment they said their "I dos" during the ceremony. Being Kendra's bridesmaid, Joy-Anna was part of the episode. However, it did not pay attention to her or her baby bump, which was obviously showing in the wedding footage.

On Aug. 30, just before Joe and Kendra's big day, the Duggars confirmed on their website that Joy-Anna and her husband Austin were actually expecting their first baby. Following the Duggars' big reveal, Joy-Anna and Austin also made their big announcement via a video that was shown on TLC.

"Before we even were married we were praying that God would give us kids and we're so thankful that he has. We're so happy to announce that we're pregnant. When we found out we were pregnant we were both extremely happy and felt blessed," said the couple in their video.

The couple also said in the video that it doesn't matter whether they have a baby girl or a boy — although they have an inkling it's a girl. That said, they're sure about how they would like to raise their child. "I hope that our child is pretty much just like their mother. Selfless and always serving and loving people. There's kind of been a trend with having boys in the family. I think we're going to break it and have a girl," said Austin.

Meanwhile, fans of the Duggars who saw Joy-Anna's baby bump during Joe and Kendra's wedding took to Twitter to say that Joy-Anna's baby bump looked too big, considering they've been married for only three months. Previously, Joy-Anna and Austin were accused of having a shotgun wedding when they suddenly decided to get wed earlier than initially announced.
