'Country Buck$' Series Not 'Duck Dynasty 2.0' Star Says
A&E debuted a new show last week, much to the delight of fans of the hit series "Duck Dynasty." "Country Buck$" follows the lives of the Busbice family, owners of Wildgame Innovations, as they navigate personal and professional business. One of the stars, Matt Busbice, spoke with The Christian Post about the show, his family and faith, and the relationship between the Busbice family and the Robertson family.
One of the greatest misconceptions about the series, Matt told CP, is that "Country Buck$" is simply "Duck Dynasty 2.0."
"I want people to laugh all the way through every episode because we are not the perfect episode—everything is trial and error. I hope that people see we are an entirely different family, though we have a common denominator with the Robertson family, which is that we are a family running an outdoor business. But we touch so many different products and show the fun of those products on our show," Matt explained. "We feel like we have companion show because we really are friends and we work together. We're not competitive but want to work together."
"We became friends through a business deal we did years and years ago," Matt said of the two families' relationship. "Since our products have done well, we've remained partners. And from there, we became really good friends. The Robertson family, and Willie especially, has become like a stepbrother to me."
Both families have found fame through their everyday lives, just being who they are. And America has accepted them for who they are … country people who place God at the center of their lives.
"Glimpses of our faith will be shown throughout the show, but in order not to be a 'Duck Dynasty 2.0,' we have to blaze our own trail on how we show our faith. Praying around the dinner table would be a complete copy—we have to find our own way to show that faith. Will it be that blatant? No. But will it be more guerilla like? Yes," he noted.
The Busbice family is set upon remaining true to who they are and using the platform they've been given to spread the Word and sharing the message of love and togetherness. The first two episodes aired last Wednesday to great acclaim from fans. The show has a prime airtime after "Duck Dynasty."
