Courtney Stodden Gets Reality Show Despite Controversy

Courtney Stodden and husband Doug Hutchison will soon appear on their own reality show. The couple has officially signed a contract with Merv Griffin Entertainment, and Stodden could not be happier.

"We are so excited to be working with Roy Bank, a great professional in this business," Stodden told Radar Online. "We are proud that we were able to find the perfect producer for our reality show and are thrilled to be working with this prestigious production company."

The couple has been surrounded by controversy ever since news of their marriage became public. Stodden is only 17 years old, but chose to marry actor Doug Hutchison, who is 51. The two have had to repeatedly defend their relationship to the public after much was made about the age difference.

Stodden told E! Online that she met Hutchison through a mutual friend who thought Hutchinson could be a good mentor for Stodden, who wanted to be an actress.

"It turned from professional to personal … a lot of texting. It was very innocent," Hutchinson told E! Online. "There was nothing illegal or immoral about it."

During the interview with E! News, Hutchison seemed to take the lead, with Stodden murmuring her approval and posing for the camera. Now it seems she has achieved her goal of being on TV. The new show will focus on the couple's relationship as they navigate the entertainment industry and deal with the pressure of the public eye.

"People are going to be very excited," Stodden's mother-turned-manager told Celebuzz. "She is going to be gone for about three weeks" to film the series, Krista Keller added.

"FYI Stoddenista's: Will be m.i.a. for about 3 weeks-packing up & heading out to shoot a reality show! Love you all xxx God Bless, Courtney" Stodden tweeted to fans.

There is no word yet on where the show is being filmed or when the show is expected to premiere.
