The House of Representatives voted 98-42 against legislation that sought to amend the definition to include same-sex couples. Cardinal George Pell of Sydney, along with other notable Christian leaders of Australia, affirmed their commitment to promote and protect marriage ahead of the vote. Those in support of same-sex marriage said that there is strong support among Australians for gay marriage and they hope that eventually the laws will reflect that sentiment. The American Center for Law and Justice, which was heavily involved in Nadarkhani's trial, told our partner The Christian Post that Nadarkhani's story is an example of how the world can join together to ensure that justice is served and freedom preserved.
