A federal appeals court in New York has ruled that the Defense of Marriage Act is unconstitutional. The Court found that the Act's Section 3, which prohibits federal recognition of same-sex marriages, violates the equal protection clause of the Constitution. The 1st U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Boston issued a similar ruling in May. The Supreme Court is expected to take up the case in the next year.

The three-part series, which is titled "Sex, Death And The Meaning Of Life" wants to explore "what happens if we leave religion behind", and to explore the power that the religious idea of sin has over our lives. Dawkins also wants to explain how reason and science can find a better way to be good."
More than 7,000 Syrian refugees are stranded on the Syrian border town of Azaz as the already overburdened Turkish government struggles to process a growing influx. The Turkish government announced earlier this week that the number of Syrian refugees in camps had exceeded their capacity of one hundred thousand. They are fleeing what they described as an indiscriminate bombardment which randomly destroyed property and lives.
