Christianity in the hot seat: First issue---- does Christianity belong at alcoholics anonymous? A fight over this has split Toronto Alcoholics Anonymous groups. Two secular ones: Beyond Belief and We Agnostics …were delisted from the roster of local AA listings when they took God out of their recovery roadmap of 12 steps. AA is traditionally rooted in and founded upon Christianity, where meetings ended in the Lord’s Prayer. And…..On behalf of 4 Christians, The European Court of Human Rights has told the British Government to clarify whether the rights of Christians have been infringed by recent rulings in its courts . The Christians were penalised for expressing their faith in the workplace. Among them: a British Airways worker who was prevented from wearing a cross with her uniform; and another employee who said he could not provide sex therapy to a gay couple. Equality laws have been introduced in recent years to prevent discrimination against minorities, including people of other faiths and homosexuals.
Meanwhile British Christian MP David Simpson said that Christians are being persecuted in the U.K. with a policy that people can do or say whatever they like against Christianity as long as quote: “they don’t insult Islam”. The Commons debate follows the case of a Christian driver….. told to remove a small cross from the dashboard of a company van , even though the company, Wakefield District Housing, allows a Muslim employee to display a verse from the Koran in her company car.
