CP World Report: Pakistani Girl and Blasphemy, Todd Akin, South Sudan
The arrest of the 11 year old disabled Pakistani Christian girl on so-called blasphemy charges is part of a decades-old trend in "witch hunts." This is according to Duke University professor, Ebrahim Moosa who works in the department of Religion & Islamic Studies. Moosa told the Christian Post that 647 such blasphemy charges were filed in Pakistan between 1986 and 2007. Amnesty International reported last month that a mob accused a homeless man in Pakistan's Punjab province of burning the Quran. After dragging him out of a police station, they beat him to death and then set him on fire.

The more religious, the more generous people seem to be. A new study by the Chronicle of Philanthropy explored charity habits of Americans using donation records released by the IRS. It found: the Northeastern States which were the least religious, were the least generous in their charitable giving. Among the most generous: Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee and South Carolina, and Utah. They also happens to be the most religious states. Among political party lines, conservatives also appeared to be more giving than liberals

Community groups often display banners on the flagpole outside Kelowna City Hall in BC. Last week organizers of the local Gay Pride Week flew theirs. But when the pro-life group "Right to Life Society" wanted to display their banner, city council turned it down unanimously. Then letters of complaints piled up. And city council sent out an explanatory email . It stated that flags are not allowed to contain words that promote political, religious or an ethical point of view and that the Pride Flag conveyed a message without such words. With that in mind, the "Right to Life Society" cut the slogan but kept the flag, only the find that the entire display program was scrapped. The UN World Food Program has begun a series of airdrops to replenish rapidly diminishing food supplies for over 100,000 people in Christian-dominated South Sudan, who have fled fighting in Sudan.
32 metric tons of wheat was flown to refugee settlements .
There are about 170,000 refugees currently in South Sudan with more arriving each day.The border with South Sudan, has been beset by fighting between Sudanese forces and the "Sudan People's Liberation Movement-North" since last year. The latter was previously part of the rebel movement that fought for the independence of South Sudan.
