Apple co-Founder and Chairman Steve Jobs has died at the age of 56. He had been suffering from a series of health issues. In 2004 he had surgery for a rare form of pancreatic cancer. Then in 2009, he underwent a liver transplant. Apple announced in January that Jobs was taking a temporary leave of absence and then in late august, he stepped down from his role as CEO, and was replaced by Tim Cook. Cook broke the news to employees saying, “apple has lost a visionary and creative genius.”

Islamic militants with suspected ties to Iranian security forces have been terrorizing evangelical Christians, threatening them to "repent" or die. Christian Solidarity Worldwide has reported that 11 Iranian Christians received the e-mail threats from a group identifying itself as the "The Unknown Soldiers of The Hidden Imam." The threats have been called similar to the coercion of Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani, who was tried and found guilty of apostasy for converting to Christianity from Islam. He still awaits execution, amid increasing international pressure from Christian Groups, the EU and Amnesty International to release him. Now Iranian run Fars News Agency has fabricated a story that he is a threat to national security which it says….includes rape and Zionism.

An anti-government activist was almost sent back to Iran on a deportation order from Canada, because of dozens of translation errors by an interpreter at his refugee hearing. It happened in Montreal as Ali Zaree waited to find out whether he would be deemed a legitimate refugee fearing for his life. The hearings got off to a rough start as it became clearer the certified Farsi to English interpreter spoke poor English.

Ontario residents go to the polls today to determine who will be Premier. Liberal leader Dalton McGuinty has already won two majority terms and according to an Ipsos Reid Poll, he is ten points ahead of his rival—Progressive Conservative, Tim Hudak. Two months ago, Hudak was in the lead by 11 percentage points. Meantime, Greg Selinger has delivered his fourth NDP government majority to Manitoba. It’s the first time the same party has achieved four consecutive majority wins in Manitoba.
British Prime Minister David Cameron has called on faith groups to play a part in transforming society and mending a broken Britain. In the latest edition of Keep the Faith magazine, the Prime Minister wrote that faith had a role to play in mending the "breakdown of responsibility" in Britain, and in establishing right from wrong. Keep The Faith magazine’s latest edition focuses on the riots that swept through English cities during the summer.
We brought you a story about Sumner County in Tennessee, where the school board banned teachers and coaches from bowing their heads to pray in solidarity with students, as they celebrated their global prayer event “See you at the Pole”. It didn’t end there. More than 12-hundred people in that County turned out to a Town Hall meeting to protest and express outrage over repeated attacks on their Christian faith . The ACLU has been pressurizing schools to keep all expressions of prayer out. The group proclaimed their strong belief that they have the right to pray and express their religious beliefs publicly. One woman announced she didn’t care if she went to jail, while the crowd cheered and shouted “Amen”

22 year old Katie Davis’ new book “Kisses from Katie” has been released. Her mind-boggling story has fascinated religious leaders and talk show hosts globally as she cares for the needy in Uganda. At 19 she left the comforts of an upper-middle class life in Nashville, Tenn., to visit Uganda. She was so affected by the tragic scenes that she decided to do the unthinkable: move there. Today, she brings the gospel and hope to an entire village and region in Uganda where she is now a permanent resident and president of Amazima Ministries, which serves over 1,600 children and their families, providing food and shelter. And Davis has personally adopted 13 Ugandan orphans.

The iconic kids show is set to unveil a new impoverished puppet named Lily, whose family faces an ongoing struggle with hunger issues.
Lily will be revealed in a one-hour Sesame Street primetime special, "Growing Hope Against Hunger," which is being sponsored by Walmart.
The special will star… country singer Brad Paisley and his wife Kimberly Williams-Paisley, as well as the Sesame Street Muppets.
