Indiana Speaker of the House Brian Bosma has killed a Senate bill that would allow creationism and evolution to be taught together in science classes. Bosma had concerns about possible legal challenges to the bill and the expenses a prolonged legal battle would likely produce. The bill was originally proposed by Republican Senator Dennis Kruse and passed a GOP-controlled Indiana Senate earlier this year by a vote of 28-22.
Meanwhile….. With religion being pushed out of public schools , "The Life Book Movement" -- an outreach of "Gideons International"—has been working to get God's message back in….through the distribution of "The Life Book". It's a brief, interactive overview of the Old Testament and the Gospel of John designed to engage high school students. Because school staff and other adults are not distributing the books, the practice is protected. Since January 2010, more than 2 million classmates have received it.
