8. Facebook Suspends Christian Homeschool Mom's Account Over Posts Citing Bible on Homosexuality
An Ohio homeschooling mother of 10, who runs the popular conservative blog "The Activist Mommy," said her Facebook account was suspended in February over her post on homosexuality.
Elizabeth Johnston had responded to another Facebook user who called Christians hypocrites for condemning homosexuality while still eating shellfish and pork. Johnston cited Leviticus, where it states that homosexual behavior is "detestable" and an "abomination," and argued that some commandments in the Old Testament applied only to Jews.
Facebook removed her post for violating the Facebook Community Standards. And The Activist Mommy Facebook page was frozen for three days.
"I responded with just scriptural commentary and that is considered 'hate speech' by Facebook," Johnston explained to The Christian Post. "It was just very intellectual and it was just a commentary on what the Bible says. There was no name calling or anything like that."
When she reposted her comment after her account was unfrozen, Facebook again removed the post and froze her account for an additional seven days.
