'Crash Bandicoot' Release Date, News: Sony Clarifies Collection Is 'Coming to PS4 and PS4 Pro First'
"Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy" will not be released exclusively to the PlayStation 4 (PS4) after all, at least based on the latest word about the remastered series.
In a Twitter exchange with a fan, the official account of PlayStation Ireland revealed in a tweet that the title will be a PS4 exclusive. This tweet has already been deleted though, but not before eagle-eyed fans snapped a screenshot, which can be found here.
The folks behind the Twitter handle have since clarified the statement. "["Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy"] will launch on 30th June 2017. To clarify our earlier post, it will be coming to PlayStation 4 and PS4 Pro first," they tweeted.
This suggests that "Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy" will simply be timed exclusive to the PS4 and PS4 Pro, and will be released on the Xbox One at a later date.
While it may come as no surprise to some that "Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy" is only set for release for the PS4, the involvement of Activision had many hoping it will reach other platforms.
The original "Crash Bandicoot" games included in the collection were all released for the PS4 only so it made sense the remastered versions will get the same treatment.
Gamingbolt also points out that Naughty Dog, the developer of the games, is now a Sony first-party studio and that the "Crash Bandicoot" games play a crucial role in the marketing of the Sony PlayStation, so it was likely the collection was only coming to the PS4. However, with Activision now holding the rights to the franchise, many expected that "Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy" will make it to other platforms.
This meant that Activision can release the collection outside of the PS4 should it choose to do so. It turns out that the company is exercising this in the "Crash Bandicoot" re-releases.
