Criminal Minds Season 11 Release Date? Renewed or Canceled? Jennifer Love Hewitt Talks About New Character
"Ghost Whisperer" star Jennifer Love Hewitt is the latest addition to "Criminal Minds" when it debuts its 10th season on CBS. After Jeanne Tripplehorn's departure from the show, having Hewitt on the show will certainly be a welcome development as the BAU solves new crimes and hunts down the baddies of the upcoming season.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Hewitt talked about joining the show and her character, FBI Agent Kate Callahan.
On being cast on the CBS hit show, Hewitt mentioned how good it was to be back on TV after taking a break to enjoy being a mom.
"I have been on a break for a bit being a new mommy," said the actress to Entertainment Weekly. "They were looking to add a new cast member and obviously I spent some time at CBS before, doing 'Ghost Whisperer.'"
"I was so excited when they called and asked to take a meeting. I met with [show runner] Erica [Messer] who I'd known since I was 14 on 'Party of Five' … It all fit and the timing was perfect," she continued.
And what does she think about her character, Kate Callahan?
"Kate is a really interesting woman. She comes to the BAU with her own experience, which I like. I wasn't quite sure at first if I was going to be a newbie who hadn't done this before … She has a lot of gumption. She's very feisty. If she's afraid of a bad guy, she doesn't show it. She enjoys her job," Hewitt explained.
Though season 10 is still about to premiere, fans of the show are wondering whether "Criminal Minds" will be renewed for another season, or if this season will be the last one. CBS has not revealed any details yet, but if season 10 proves to be a winner in the ratings game, then it's entirely possible that the show could be renewed.
"Criminal Minds" season 10 premieres on Oct. 1 on CBS.
