'Criminal Minds' Season 12 Episode 16: Shaw Urges Reid to Choose a Side
Calvin Shaw (Harold Perrineau) may be Reid's (Matthew Gray Gubler) only hope in surviving the unforgiving life in prison in the upcoming episode of "Criminal Minds."
In the episode titled "Assistance Is Futile," the promo shows Calvin urging Reid to take a stand. He must choose which side he is on if he still wants to live. When the police put Reid in general prison alongside the other criminals, many immediately started targeting him. The convicts do not like having an FBI agent in their midst, even if Reid looks like he is no match for them. Calvin was Reid's first friend in prison. He also worked for the FBI in the past. He was sent to jail when he killed someone out of self-defense.
Calvin immediately took Reid under his wing. It remains unclear if his offer of friendship is pure, though. In the teaser, Calvin asks Reid if he is a predator or a prey. That night, two men go inside Reid's cell with the intention of beating him up. Reid is in danger. If Calvin will not be able to help him on this one, he will certainly be a goner.
Meanwhile, aside from looking for ways to get their beloved colleague out of prison, the unit members will be busy handling a case involving an unsub called the Bone Crusher.
According to TV Guide, the mother of one of the victims will give the squad a clear lead on the perpetrator. The promo shows the agents locating the killer's lair. They will find bizarre drawings on the wall. As hinted, the culprit takes great pleasure in torturing his victims by breaking their bones. In the clip, the agents are shown busting in a room where the man had just finished his morbid deed. Whatever they will find there is enough to stop them in their tracks.
"Criminal Minds" season 12 episode 16 will air on Wednesday, March 15 at 9 p.m. ET on CBS.
