Cross-Dressing Event at Fla. School Rebuked by Parents for Promoting Gay Behavior
A high school in Florida has organized a cross-dressing event for its students, outraging parents and students alike.
Olympia High School in Windermere has announced a “Switch-A-Roo” day where boys dress like their favorite girl, and girls dress like their favorite guy.
The school’s principal left a voice message for the parents of all students, saying: “Girls dress like your favorite guy, and guys dress like your favorite girl.”

Parent Lolita Kollore told Fox News Orlando that she could not believe her ears when she heard the message and had to replay it again. Her son is a sophomore at the school.
“What I first thought is ‘Oh my God! They are promoting gay and lesbianism through cross-dressing’,” she told the news agency.
She said that her son did not want to take part in the event.
“My son is saying 'mom, I don't want to dress like a girl, I don't want to wear a dress, wear makeup’.”
Kollore says the idea which came from the student government should have been vetoed by the adults. She goes on to say that dressing like the opposite sex promotes homosexuality and imposes an alternative lifestyle on the students.
She vowed that she would not send her son to school if the school agrees to carry out the event.
An Orange County Public School spokesperson said each high school can choose their own homecoming activities and that it was the school’s student government that voted for the “Switch-A-Roo” day.
The district said the students do not have to participate in the event, which was approved by the principal, along with other celebrations such as “dress like your favorite animal” or “wild and tacky.”
The school’s principal Jenny Gibson was not available for comment by the time of press.
