'Cross Spangled Banner' to Reawaken Forgotten Virtues of America
The devotion to both God and America is symbolized in a new image one group believes – the Cross Spangled Banner.
Hoping to reawaken the virtue they claim America has forgotten, a few individuals from Milwaukee created a new flag replacing the 50 stars with crosses, the “universal symbol of God’s virtue.”
“John Quincy Adams, sixth president of the United States, stated, ‘The highest glory of the American Revolution was this – that it connected, in one indissoluble bond, the principles of civil government with the principles of Christianity,” shared one of the makers who wished to remain anonymous due to threats.

Though it has been hotly debated whether the nation was founded on Christian ideals, it could not be argued whether it was founded on Christian virtues, he told The Christian Post.
“When the cross is provided in context of the good work of the United States of America and what we once used to stand for, we’re reminded ourselves of what to do and how to do right, by the Lord.”
“And it also serves as a reminder to the world that, since some of the questionable things our government has done in the past decades, that we can make right,” he added.
The idea for the flag was motivated by 2 Chronicles 7:14, a verse from the Bible which reads: “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
The creators of the flag believe in the power of the Lord, and say it would help heal the United States, which appears to have forgotten God.
“America would not be America if it weren’t by the will of God,” he explained to CP. “We are, and always have been, the freest and most open country on earth. Our behavior, morals, and ethics – all rooted in Christianity – are the examples by which we can inspire the world.”
The cross symbol, to them, has the ability to bypass the consciousness and communicate with one’s deeper self, where the soul dwells and God listens.
“The Cross Spangled Banner combines two of the world's most powerful symbols knowing that it will strike that divine spark in each of us,” the creator said.
“We have layers of pain and hurt and pride built up, in each of us. As in Chronicles 7:14 the Lord states to turn to his face, and be humbled by Him. By looking upon anything, we have an internal sense of the thing or person, and this symbol is the purest thing that evokes the most humbling notion of God that I know of.”
“As Christians, America is our responsibility second only to the Lord,” he continued. “We have adapted a Christian flag of the United States, designed to do away with an arbitrary element: the star, which is proudly used, too, on the flags of China, North Korea, Vietnam, Pakistan, Somalia, Bosnia and sadly, more like these.”
Though the flag was intended for good, some opposed the new symbol including anti-Christian groups who called themselves “anti-theists,” harassing the group on its Facebook page.
“A few groups ... [argued] that America didn’t refer to the country but the continent,” the developer shared. “However, I am well aware that America is named after Amerigo Vespucci and refers to both North and South Americas.”
Due to the threats and aggression toward the group, most of the individuals’ personal information was removed or made anonymous.
Despite the few criticisms however, response to the Cross Spangled Banner has been positive overall.
“We’ve only been on Facebook for about a week now and we have [more than 600] fans so far. Lots of positive comments and people enjoying the free wallpapers I made,” the creator told CP. “Sales are picking up and with every batch we have a few to give away.”
The retail cost of the flag for a limited time will be $49.99, allowing the group to print enough for sales and give many away to charitable organizations as well. The regular cost of the flag is $79.99.
“If we ever forget that we’re one nation under God, then we will be a nation gone under,” the group states, quoting Ronald Reagan.
“The flag is a symbolic act that contributes to the course of history and can help bring salvation to millions – every Christian’s responsibility.”
