Crystal Harris Dishes Advice on Dating Older Men Like Hugh Hefner
Hugh Hefner's ex-fiancée Crystal Harris has revealed tips for maintaining a strong relationship with an older partner.
The 26-year-old model believes she accumulated extensive knowledge about relationships during her engagement to the 86-year-old founder of Playboy, such as being more accepting.
"Older men are usually set in their ways, so if you don't like the way he is, then that's too bad, you're not going to change him," explained Harris to News.com.au.
Harris became engaged to Hefner in December 2010 when she accepted a $90,000 diamond engagement ring. Then, just days ahead of their wedding in June last year, Harris became known in the media as the "runaway bride" when she called off the nuptials.
"Crystal informed me of the news this morning and that the decision to call off the wedding was mutual," Harris' manager, Michael Blakey, president of Organica Music Group, told Life & Style magazine at the time. "The split was amicable and I'm happy to say that Crystal and Hef will remain close friends."
Regardless of their failed relationship, Harris continued to open up about what she had learned. Also a singer and a television personality, Harris said being a good listener is vital for a relationship.
"Hef had the most amazing stories," said the model. "Take it all in." Harris then noted the importance of keeping things fun.
"Taken them to new places and try to get them to eat different things, like sushi," said the model.
When asked if she had any regrets about her experience with Hefner, Harris revealed her determination to earn a spot on an Australian reality series. Her career goals prevented her from marrying at the time.
It was rumored that Harris was in a secret relationship with her songwriting partner Jordan McGraw, the son of television personality Dr. Phil, while engaged to Hefner. The reports were never confirmed.
Today, Hefner has moved forward and is still leading his magazine. The Playboy CEO named 2012's Playmate of the Year last week as 21-year-old Jaclyn Swedberg, according to Us Weekly.
"Jaclyn was overcome with emotion and gratitude when giving her speech in front of Hef and her family," a Playboy rep confirmed to the magazine. "All in all, it was fantastic afternoon with family, friends, Playmates, and past Playmates of the Year all in attendance."
