'CSI: Cyber' Season 2 Episode 12 Spoilers, News: Ted Danson Is Leaving the Show

Fans are saddened to hear that "CSI: Cyber" star, Ted Danson, will now be leaving the show for good.

According to Entertainment Weekly, it was Glenn Geller, the Entertainment President of CBS, who announced that the veteran actor will not be returning back to "CSI: Cyber." Danson was initially part of the original "CSI" series, and when it got canceled, he immediately moved to join the spin-off series.

The website also added that Danson will now star on a new series called "Good Place" with "Veronica Mars" star Kristen Bell. "Good Place" will tell the story of Eleanor, played by Bell, who will come to realize that she is not "a very good person" that she thought she is. Eleanor will then try to change for the better, and Danson will play as her guide in this mission.

Danson was already absent in the midseason premiere of the show, and since Geller said he won't be coming back, fans wonder how it will be explained in the next episodes. However, his absence was barely noticed because of the show's current addition, Marcus Giamatti. According to TVOvermind, Giamatti brings a new level of quirkiness to the show with his character, Artie Sneed, who will now be a "cyber consultant" to the team.

A summary was posted on IMDb for the upcoming "CSI: Cyber" episode, which is titled "Gone Viral," and the synopsis reads, "An airborne computer virus is infecting cell phones and the team must find the hacker responsible, while D.B. meets a woman who sent him a text by mistake."

The episode was directed by Maja Vrvilo and was written by Pam Veasey. Both Pam Veasey and Denise Hahn did the teleplay for the episode. Guest stars include Kelly Preston as Greer Latimore, Mitch Miller as Leo Finch, Chris Mulkey as Mayor Cavanaugh, David Salsa as Eric O'Brien, David Burke as Clayton Carver, Nikiva Dionne as Connie Abbott, and Hugh B. Holub as Darryl Ford.

"CSI: Cyber" will be on a two-week break before it returns this Jan. 31, Sunday, on CBS.
