CSI finale spoilers; Old cast reunites for the TV special

After 15 seasons and 15 years, the original CSI series is coming to an end with a special two-part TV movie finale titled "Immortality Part 1" and "Immortality Part 2." The devastating end comes after a lackluster run during the most recent season that received its lowest ratings to date, which led to its inevitable cancelation.

Season 15 ended on a massive cliff-hanger that left Julie Finlay (Elisabeth Shue) in a coma fighting for her life, after her deadly run-in with the Gig Harbor killer. Unfortunately, the producers have teased fans saying that the finale will include a pivotal death. Add to that the fact that Elisabeth Shue will not be returning for the finale. This leads fans to speculate if the death belongs to Finn, and right now, it certainly looks that way.

George Eads who plays Nick Stokes in the series will not be returning for the finale either. But fans of the show will be very happy to know that William Petersen and Marg Helgenberger have both confirmed their return for the finale. Also returning for the final episode are Ted Danson, Jorja Fox, Jon Wellner, David Berman, Paul Guilfoyle, Wallace Langham, Elisabeth Harnois, Robert David Hall, Eric Szmanda and Melinda Clarke. However, the show will introduce one new cast member in the finale. Katie Stevens from "Faking It" will play Lindsey Willows, the now 20-year-old daughter of Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger) who ends up becoming a CSI herself.

CBS is promising a fulfilling finale for all the die-hard fans of the show. "This will be a very satisfying ending for all the 'CSI' fans," said Nina Tassler, CBS entertainment chairman. Marg Helgenberger agrees. "What I can share is that it is going to be a crowd pleaser, and the true die-hard fans will be satisfied. There's a lot of the story that will get wrapped up and a lot of fan favorite characters are brought back. I was satisfied. I think fans will be, too," she said.

Furthermore, the actress dished on why her character has returned to the Las Vegas crime lab. Catherine comes back when a federal crime gets committed in one of the casinos she inherited from her father. She also shared some memorable pictures from the set. The finale's storyline will be about a series of bombings in the city that brings everyone back together.

The finale will air on Sept. 27 on CBS.
