'Cyberpunk 2077' Release Date & Rumors: Expected to Launch in Late 2016?
Gamers who have been waiting for CD Projekt Red's upcoming action role-playing video game "Cyberpunk 2077" may be delighted to know that it might come earlier than expected. It was previously reported that the game will be making some noise sometime in 2017.
But according to PC Gamer, rumors have been circulating around saying the game may hit store shelves before the end of 2016. While there is no confirmation to this, the rumor came from the website Gamereactor Germany.
Techno Buffalo said that the report cited an "unnamed source" as the source of its information. It also claimed that "Cyberpunk 2077" is presently in the works for the PC but also said that the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions are "more than likely" especially since the company has had an overwhelming success with "The Witcher 3" in those platforms. Aside from that, it also mentioned a possible exclusivity scuffle between Sony and Microsoft.
But could a late 2016 release date for "Cyberpunk 2077" really be possible? PC Games N detailed that CD Projekt Red CEO Adam Kicinski said during an interview with Polish website Money that they are focusing on "The Witcher 3" and they will continue to add more content for the game in 2016 to keep people's attention. The company is also expected to release its second expansion, "Blood and Wine."
Translated by various folks on Reddit, Kicinski said, "This and the next year will be devoted to The Witcher. Apart from the second expansion we have some additional ideas."
Kicinski also revealed that they have, in fact, already planned a release schedule for the game but they will not announce it until they are ready to start the marketing campaign. Right now, they are just focusing on their current game so as not to distract users from that product.
"Cyberpunk 2077" was first announced by CD Projekt Red in 2012.
