Dallas Cowboys rumors: Tony Romo's fractured clavicle will not need surgery

Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo has sustained a fractured collarbone, but recent rumors say the injury will not need surgery, and his recuperating time will be shortened.

On Monday, tests on the Dallas Cowboys star's fractured left clavicle showed that surgery will not be needed to fix the injury. While Tony Romo is recovering from his broken collarbone, the Cowboys will have to find someone who will replace him for the remaining eight weeks of the National Football League (NFL) season, according to the Inquisitr.

Because of what happened to Romo, the Dallas Cowboys are now mulling over signing a veteran quarterback for the rest of the season. The team was planning on bringing back Kyle Orton but he seems to be happy with his retired status, HNGN adds.

There were earlier reports that Romo could return to the field in six weeks and participate in the 10th or 11th week of the game season. While he is recuperating, Brandon Weeden will function as the quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys, the report details.

Weeden has an extensive experience in the NFL. Last Sunday, he delivered a stellar performance during the second half of their game against the Philadelphia Eagles. If the team wants to continue winning in the NFC East conference, Weeden will have to continue his good performance.

The Dallas Cowboys had faced a slim chance of being able to join the 2016 NFL Playoffs after Dez Bryant fractured his right foot. Still, the team fought the Eagles triumphantly even without Bryant.

The Dallas Cowboys will face the Atlanta Falcons on Sept. 27 on Week 3 of the NFL season. With the two strongest players sidelined, it will be interesting to see how the Cowboys will play the game and gain traction over their opponents. The greatest pressure lies on Brandon Weeden's shoulders, and he needs to keep performing well if the Cowboys wants to keep winning.
