Dallas Cowboys Rumors: Where Will Tony Romo End Up to Start the Next NFL Season?

Numerous teams mentioned as potential landing spots for Tony Romo

The Dallas Cowboys stumbled upon one of the most valuable assets in the game after they managed to turn a fourth round pick into starting quarterback Dak Prescott, but the emergence of the rookie has also given way to a different situation that now needs to be resolved regarding former starting signal-caller Tony Romo.

Even before the season ended, there were already rumblings that the Cowboys may trade Romo now that they have a young and affordable option who is more than capable of running their offense. No trade materialized then, but now that all teams are now gearing up for the season ahead, there may be a better chance for a deal to come together.

A recent article from ESPN offered a closer look at the teams that may have a quarterback-shaped roster hole that Romo could seemingly fill.

Interestingly enough, only three teams mentioned in the article were given a "realistic chance" of employing Romo for the upcoming season, with the Cowboys being one of them.

Inertia can be a powerful thing, and it's not like keeping around a quarterback as good as Romo is a bad move for them since he provides insurance should Prescott suffer an injury.

Now, should the Cowboys decide that they will be better off dealing Romo, this is where the other teams listed with a "realistic chance" of acquiring him may enter the picture.

Notably, the Chicago Bears and the New York Jets are the two other teams given "realistic chances" of landing Romo and it's no surprise that they were listed as such, given that both teams can really use an upgrade at the quarterback spot.

At this point, however, it looks like the Romo situation is still a long ways away from being resolved, and with the draft and free agency still to come, the Dallas Cowboys may just decide to bide their time before they make their move.
