On the other hand, the Mavericks have been one of the surprise teams in the league and sport an 11-8 pip to place second in the same division.
At the moment, the San Antonio Spurs are on top with a 16-4 record, while the Memphis Grizzlies are in between the Mavericks and Rockets.
Finally, the New Orleans Pelicans find themselves struggling in the final spot of the division.
This coming meeting is second of their four total meetings in the regular season, with the Mavericks already taking the first game in impressive fashion.
The first game was played in the Toyota Center and despite having the advantage of playing at home, the Rockets did not seem to have anything to offer against Dallas.
They fell early as the first quarter ended with a 32-20 lead for the visitors.
In the next quarter it was much of the same as Dallas controlled the game and restricted Houston to only 14 points in the quarter.
The Rockets had their second wind in the second half and cut down the lead by eight after the third quarter, but it was too little too late as the lead was insurmountable and the Mavericks won 110-98.
Now playing in Dallas, the Mavericks will have the crowd behind them and are slightly favoured to get the win over the Rockets for the second time this season.
