At the moment, the Mavericks find themselves second in the tough Southwest Division with a 17-13 record. They are ways away from catching the San Antonio Spurs who lead the way with a 26-6 record. Behind the Mavericks are the Memphis Grizzlies who are only 1.5 games behind Dallas at the moment.
The Houston Rockets are fourth with a 16-16 record, while the New Orleans Pelicans are last with a 10-20 pip in the season so far.
On the other hand, the Bucks are dead last in the Central Division which is currently being led by the Eastern Conference champions, the Cleveland Cavaliers, at 19-9. The Indiana Pacers, Chicago Bulls and Detroit Pistons are in the middle, while the Bucks are the only team below .500 with a 12-19 record.
The Bucks have shown that they can play excellent basketball as proven this season by being the only team to beat the defending champions, the Golden State Warriors, so far. They almost beat them the second time they met but collapsed at the end to succumb to the Warriors. So if they come up playing well against the Mavericks, they are very capable of getting the win.
On the other hand, the Mavericks have been surprisingly good this season and despite having old stars in the line-up, they have notched wins to be considered a playoff squad. They are battling injuries now but they should be getting production from their reliable role players.
