West rivals clash.
West teams meet as the Dallas Mavericks host the Sacramento Kings at the American Airlines Center in the regular season of the National Basketball Association.
The battle is on January 5, 2016 at 8:30 PM ET.
Both teams are doing fairly well in the middle of the season as the Mavericks are currently the second best team in the Southwest Division – behind only the San Antonio Spurs while keeping the Memphis Grizzlies, Houston Rockets and New Orleans Pelicans at bay.
On the other hand, the Kings are below .500 but find themselves third in the Pacific Division which is currently being ruled by the Golden State Warriors. The Los Angeles Clippers are second and the Kings are on top of the Phoenix Suns and Los Angeles Lakers in the standings.
The teams are scheduled to meet four times this season and this is the second time they are matching up in the regular season.
In the first meeting, the Kings took a big victory when they played at home.
The Mavericks took a nine-point lead in the first quarter and looked to take control of the game. However, the Kings were able to lower the lead by halftime with a great performance in the second quarter as they scored 31 points.
They continued their excellent play in the third quarter by holding the Mavericks to only 13 points to eventually surrender the lead to the Kings.
The pressure continued in the fourth quarter as the Kings scored 36 points in the fourth quarter to outscore the Mavericks to eventually win 112-98.
DeMarcus Cousins had a great game for Sacramento as he had 31 points and grabbed nine rebounds. He also had six assists in the victory.
Meanwhile, Zaza Pachulia had 13 points and 10 rebounds in the loss.
