Dancing With the Stars 2014 Season 18 Results: Elimination in Finale Sees James Maslow Exit, 3 Finalists Headed to Championship (VIDEO)
The final four couples on "Dancing with the Stars" returned to the ballroom on Monday, May 19 for the last round of dances in season 18.
Returning couples included Amy Purdy and partner Derek Hough; Candace Cameron Bure and Mark Ballas; James Maslow and Peta Murgatroyd; and Meryl Davis and Maksim Chmerkovskiy, and each couple performed two dances during the show. However, despite high-energy performances and an outpouring of support from fans, Maslow and Murgatroyd were eliminated on Monday.
Ahead of the elimination, the first round on Monday saw each couple perform the "Judge's Pick," where the stars danced the same style they did with their new partners during the week of "The Switch Up." Then, in the second round, the finalists performed jazzed-up Freestyle dances, which saw special effects and several surprises along the way.
The season 18 finale will air in two parts; Monday's performance episode saw one elimination, but the champion will not be announced until after Tuesday, May 20's two-hour finale. During Tuesday's action-packed episode, each of the 12 couples from season 18 will return to the ballroom for an exciting opening number.
Furthermore, one of the three remaining couples will perform an encore of their Freestyle routine, decided by fans on Twitter. The finale will also see Team Loca perform LIVE to "Livin' La Vida Loca," which is the performance cancelled during Latin Night when Amy Purdy was injured.
Tuesday will also see the first ever dance between Olympic partners Meryl David and Charlie White, as well as the three remaining couples performing a new routine as part of the "24 Hour Fusion Challenge." Musical guests for Tuesday include previous "DWTS" contestant Amber Riley, Christina Perri, Iggy Azalea, Cody Simpson and Ariana Grande.
The "DWTS" finale will air Tuesday on ABC at 8 p.m. EST.
