'Dancing With the Stars' 2014 Season 18 Results: Elimination Show Sees Charlie White Exit in Week 9
"Dancing with the Stars" is down to just five remaining couples after Charlie White and his partner Sharna Burgess were eliminated during Monday's "American Icons" show.
Known as the toughest week of the competition, the semifinals got off to a quick start on Monday as remaining contestants including Amy Purdy and her professional dance partner Derek Hough took to the ballroom once more. However, in week nine, each couple performed two different ballroom dance routines without any additional stunts or gimmicks added.
Returning for the finals next week are Purdy and Hough; James Maslow and Peta Murgatroyd; Cameron Bure and Ballas; and Meryl Davis and Maks Chmerkovskiy. Last week saw the elimination of "The Wonder Years" actress Danica McKellar. Season 18 has also bid farewell for Nene Leakes, Drew Carey, and many others. Meanwhile, Monday's show saw each couple take to the ballroom dancing to music by some of the biggest stars from the U.S., including Beyonce and Michael Jackson.
Although Candace Cameron Bure was in jeopardy of going home last week, the actress and her partner Mark Ballas have proved to be a powerful dancing duo. Ahead of "American Icons" night, many "DWTS" contestants took to Twitter, including James Maslow who complained of a stomachache.
"Psyched to be in bed early but not very excited that it's because my stomach is mad at me," he wrote. "Where's the magic remedy, guys? Its 2014."
Amy Purdy also keeps her Twitter followers and "DWTS" fans up-to-date. The paralympian voiced her appreication for being a part of the show in its 18th season this year.
"Can't help but feel like the past 8 weeks have gone by entirely too fast, I never want this journey to end! #PurdyHough #DWTS," she wrote.
Then, on Monday, Purdy shared an inspirational quote to Instagram reading, "Take a risk. It is fails at least you have a good story to tell. If it works you have an even better story to tell." In the caption Purdy added, "Morning! Nothing like a good quote to kick off a Monday."
"DWTS" airs on ABC Mondays at 8 p.m. EST.
