'Dancing With the Stars': 'SNL' Alum Chris Kattan Is First to Get Eliminated in 2017
The 24th season of ABC Network's dance competition series "Dancing With the Stars" recently hit its second week and subsequently gave its audience this year's first elimination.
The series, which reportedly reached its 401st episode this week, said goodbye to "Saturday Night Live" alum Chris Kattan and his pro partner Witney Carson. The comedian had already been criticized for being too stiff the previous week and seemed to have struggled with a previous neck injury sustained a few years ago.
The pair danced Jazz and Carrie Ann Inaba claimed to have been inspired by how entertaining Chris' performance was on stage. The rest of the judges agreed that Chris put in a much better performance than last week, and Bruno Tonioli even commented that it was like watching Marilyn Monroe dancing with Cecil B. Demented. However, despite favorable verbal reviews, the pair only managed to get a total of 22 points.
The highest score of the night went to pairs Normani Kordei and Valentin Chmerkovskiy, who did the Cha Cha, and Rashad Jennings and Emma Slater, who showed off their dancing skills and dynamics through the Viennese Waltz. Each pair got a total of 32 points.
Meanwhile, fan favorite and former "Glee" star, Heather Morris got a score of 30 points with her new partner, Alan Bersten, who replaced the injured Maksim Chmerkovskiy, when they did the Jive. Morris incorporated a little hip-hop element into their routine, which unfortunately did not impress Len Goodman. Tonioli quipped that the second half of the Jive was "brilliant" because Morris was in the character, to which Inaba disagreed.
The battle for supremacy on the dance floor continues as "Dancing With the Stars" season 24 continues every Monday at 8 p.m. EDT on ABC.
On the other hand, fans of Kattan will soon see him in Jesse Thomas' "Walk of Fame" together with Scott Eastwood.
Meanwhile, watch Kattan and Carson dance to Outkast's "Hey Ya!" below.
