Dancing With the Stars: Ricki Lake Afraid of JR Martinez?
Monday night’s Halloween episode had a range of performances available for viewers with six couples fighting to stay in the running, and Ricki Lake starting as a favorite.
One of the consistent high scorers in the competition, Lake said she does not believe she will win the competition. According to Lake, former war veteran and actor J.R. Martinez will win the competition.
“The war hero is going to be hard to beat. He's a better dancer than I am," Lake told Reuters. "I want to win, but if I'm second, that's okay."
Although Lake has worked hard in the competition and lost nearly 20 pounds as a result, she claims her competition is robotic.
"They are machines," Lake said to Reuters. "If you look at my body, I look like a Dalmatian! I'm bruised from head to toe. I'm falling apart in some ways."
Tonight’s special Halloween episode started half an hour later than its normal 8 p.m. scheduled time. The first half an hour was also devoted to a Shrek Halloween special.
Each of the six couples was also required to perform two dances on Monday night. One dance was a team routine, while the last was individual.
One day before the performances, Lake posted a message on her Twitter account.
“The right attitude can transform a barrier into a blessing, an obstacle into an opportunity or a stumbling block into a stepping stone,” Lake retweeted
Lake’s supporters spoke up on Twitter, before her performance on Monday.
“I hope Ricki wins,” one fan tweeted.
However Martinez also received a great deal of support on the social media network.
“I officially have a crush on J.R. Martinez,” another fan tweeted. “So there. #DWTS.”
