Dancing With the Stars Season 14: Dina Lohan, Lindsay Lohan's Mom to Appear?
Lindsay Lohan recently hit Twitter to call for her mother to appear on “Dancing with the Stars.”
"i want my mom @dinalohan to do #dancingwiththestars next season...she is an incredible dancer and has been dancing for years... :)"
The troubled, young, actress certainly expressed great faith in her mother’s talent. However, the general public was not as buoyant about the prospects. Many have complained that “Dancing with the Stars” has not featured many true celebrities in the last few seasons.
The first two seasons of the reality dance show highlighted stars like actor John O’Hurley (Seinfield, Family Feud), professional boxer-Evander Holyfield, and former 98 Degrees singer-Drew Lachey.
Now, many say contestants consist of some who simply have famous families and backgrounds, and that the definition of a star has been downgraded. One fan complained on Lohan’s Twitter page, saying: "so we've officially stopped caring that the word 'stars' is in the show's title?"
More recent celebrity contestants include Rob Kardashian, Chaz Bono, and Bristol Palin - none of which are particularly famous for their achievements. However, these compelling individuals may in fact increase viewership for the ABC.
The show is currently entertaining 18.22 million viewers and is at the brink of dominating Monday nights among adults ages 18-49. Fans have been enlarging with every new season. Contestants that are not actually “stars” may be a popularity tactic that works for the network. Nevertheless, some DWTS fans are not happy with it.
"I thought you had to be a celebrity," another fan Tweeted, with another critic stating, "I want #DWTS to ignore this request."
The possibility of Dina Lohan appearing as a contestant on the reality show does not seem improbable. Despite the hopeless backlash from fans, Lindsay Lohan’s dream may stand a chance.
Season 14 of “Dancing with the Stars,” is due to launch in March 2012.
