'Dancing With the Stars' Season 21 news: Monday show to be a 2-hour extravaganza

In a nutshell, "Dance With the Stars" Season 21 will start off with a spectacular cast as usual with the contestants doing the salsa, the jive, foxtrot, and the cha-cha in a 2-hour extravaganza on Monday at 8 PM ET/PT on ABC. The contestants will set the ballroom on fire as they dance with all they've got to win the Mirror Ball Trophy. The good news is no contestant will be eliminated in the first week.

This season of "Dance With the Stars" has contestants from all walks of life and all ages. The eccentric Gary Busey is 71 while Bindi Irwin is 17.

Gary Busey did the most wild thing to announce his confirmation as a contestant. He appeared on Jimmy Kimmel's late night show wearing a shiny cowboy outfit, riding a bedazzled horse. When Jimmy asked him, "What made you decide to do it this time around?" Gary Busey responded with a "I didn't have anything better to do!"

According to the International Business Times, as Gary Busey was practising with his 34-year-old partner, Anna Trebunskaya, he showed off quite a few tricks of his own to which Anna said, "I love the kick. Oh my God, we're keeping it." Gary Busey and Anna Trebunskaya will be dancing to "Dancing in the Street" by David Bowie & Mick Jagger.

Derek Hough, the five-time winning pro dancer told Entertainment Weekly that his partner, Bindi Irwin, gives off "positive energy." Bindi Irwin is the daughter of the late legendary Steve Irwin who died in 2006 after being stung by a deadly stingray. Bindi is a wildlife conservationist like her father. No wonder then that Bindi Irwin and Derek Hough will be grooving to "Crocodile Rock" by Elton John.

It is confirmed that favorite head judge Len Goodman will not be seen this season. He is taking a break what with a new grandchild and tiring trips across the Atlantic.

This season's celebrity list is an eclectic mix. Viewers are sure to witness some electrifying face-offs as celebrities try to follow the instructions of their dance coaches but at the same time, also want to do their own thing.
