Danity Kane Reunion: Group Returns Without D Woods, Diddy (VIDEO)
R&B group Danity Kane confirmed their reunion during the MTV Video Music Awards pre-show on Sunday and former member D Woods recently explained her decision not to reunite.
Aubrey O'Day; Shannon Bex; Dawn Richard; and Aundrea Fimbres all banded together at the awards show to announce their reunion almost four years after they split. D Woods, whose real name is Wanita Denise Woodgett, was noticeably not present and the singer confirmed that she will not return to the group due to her solo career.
"For the past couple of years, myself and the other DK members have been working on other projects individually, such as music, film, television, theater and philanthropy and I have recently signed on to several projects that will have me committed for the next year," D Woods said in a statement obtained by Us magazine.
"If the opportunity presents itself, I would definitely be open to recording and/or performing with Danity Kane again. I appreciate all the love and support of DK and myself. God bless!" she continued adding "My latest single "Gold Mine" is now available everywhere!"
The group was originally formed by hip hop mogul Diddy in 2005 shortly after the ladies shot to fame on the hit reality TV show "Making the Band." Despite scoring a record deal with Diddy's Bad Boy Records and following the success of two studio albums, the group split due to recurring issues with management however they are back and stronger than ever.
The "Damaged" singers are expected to release their new single "Rage" soon, and are believed to be recording a new album and planning a tour. The group's former mentor Diddy is reportedly not involved this time around.
"Together again! #DanityKane #VMAs," the group tweeted via their official Twitter page Sunday alongside a reunion photo.
D Woods, 29, revealed that despite her decision not to return to the group, she fully supports their work.
"Much love to the ladies of DK!! They have decided to reunite and I, like our amazing fans, will be cheering them on," she said.
