Dare 2 Share Writes, ''How to Witness Using Pope's Death''

Dare to Share Ministries has come out with an article, "How to Witness Using the Pope's Death" to teach teens how the death of a great man could be an effective way to witness. Like sharing the good news of Jesus' death and resurrection, the article invites teens and youths to utilize this opportune moment in history to share the gospel.

The article starts off by detailing the late Pope's ascendancy to the papacy and his achievements for Christianity. Then, it delves into the problems that the Pope faced when he first became commissioned and his subsequent victory over those challenges through faith. The article teaches youth that they, too can have faith.

"This week and in the weeks to come, the world will be focused on Pope John Paul II, the Catholic Church, and Christianity as a whole. More than ever, the entire world is hearing about Christianity in the newspaper, on the internet, on the TV news. You can’t get away from it! It’s a perfect opportunity to bring up Jesus and the Gospel message," wrote the author, Dustin Slaton, Equipping Project Coordinator.

Pope John Paul II held the third longest pontificate. He left "an incredible legacy in human rights and social reform," and was considered by many to be "one of the greatest that the Catholic Church has had in hundreds of years."

However, John Paul II faced much criticism at the beginning of his reign, according to Slaton. "Most people thought his term at the head of the Catholic Church wouldn’t amount to much."

Not only was he the first Pope from Poland, but he was also the first Pope in over 400 years that wasn’t from Italy. He had few supporters, but many critics.

"They did not expect him to do much but sit around and look important, stated Slaton. "But he proved them wrong."

Pope John Paul II spoke eight languages, and traveled to over 130 countries. He "probably spoke to more people in more cultures than any person in history."

With his help, communism fell, but he was a voice for the people. He voiced the need for freedom and justice, and spoke out against abortion, euthanasia and biochemical warfare.

"All this from a man who was supposedly going to amount to nothing."

Satan is sending out screaming messages to [our friends] every day, that they are worthless, useless and will amount to nothing in their lives, states Slaton, and Satan and the world continually tries to drown out that small voice that says, 'You can be everything that I have planned you to be. You can do anything if you depend on my strength and put your trust in my voice.'

Share the gospel, wrote Slaton to an audience of teens who frequent the website, Dare 2 Share Ministries.
