'Daredevil' Season 3 Plot News: Series to Reprise Fisk's Character

Fans of the Marvel-Netflix franchise will be delighted to learn that the supervillain Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) will return for "Daredevil" season 3.

Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin, is one of the favorite villains in the Marvel franchise. He is a known business tycoon with a very unusual strategy of making money. To get ahead of his competition, Fisk controls the climate of criminal activities, which makes him the primary adversary of Daredevil (Charlie Cox).

Before the official confirmation of Fisk's return in the show, actor D'Onofrio had already given fans an obvious hint that he would reprise the character. The actor changed the photo banner of his official Twitter page with a very clear reference to the Kingpin.

The news was then confirmed by Marvel TV executive Jeph Loeb.

Loeb recently told Deadline: "Vincent is an exceptional actor who returns with the incredible gravitas he brings to Fisk." Apart from D'Onofrio's return, the show's EP also confirmed that "Daredevil" season 3 will be produced under a new showrunner.

"We're very excited how Marvel's Daredevil develops through the creative lens and guidance of our new showrunner, Erik Oleson," Loeb added. One of the well-known projects that Oleson has worked on is alternate reality series "The Man in the High Castle."

Oleson will replace the tandem of Douglas Petrie and Marco Ramirez who sat as the showrunners for the first two seasons of "Marvel's Daredevil." Both Petrie and Ramirez left their posts to work on another hit Marvel-Netflix series "The Defenders" that started streaming on Aug. 17.

According to reports, "Daredevil" season 3 will go into production sometime in 2018. However, its release date has yet to be announced by either Marvel or Netflix. The entertainment companies have also been quiet about the schedules for the upcoming seasons of "Jessica Jones" and "Luke Cage."
