'Daredevil' Season 3 News: Mid-2018 Premiere Date Likely; 'Kingpin' Coming Later?
While the confirmation of the third season of the highly successful "Daredevil" came as a surprise to no one, the air date for the series has been pushed back by "The Defenders" that will be taking the time and focus of the "Daredevil," as well as "Jessica Jones," stars for the duration of its run. With a probable mid- to late-2017 start in filming, season 3 of "Daredevil" looks like it would not be airing until the middle of next year — 2018, at the earliest.
In an interview with Boogaloo Radio, Charlie Cox, who plays Matt Murdock/Daredevil in "Daredevil," said that he has put down the start of "Daredevil" season 3 production somewhere "later in the year," as quoted by Den of Geek. For a typical television series production schedule, assuming that Cox gets to work as early as mid-2017, it means that the new season will be airing in the middle of next year or later.
Until that time, "Daredevil" fans can get their weekly dose of Matt Murdock by catching "The Defenders" which will be airing its premiere episode on Aug. 18.
As for the plot, comic fans will be wondering when Wilson "Kingpin" Fisk will be showing up, and there's some chance that he might make it to the third season of "Daredevil." Vincent D'Onofrio, who reprised the role of "Kingpin" in the second Netflix run of "Daredevil," recently told Collider that he expects to return to Marvel "eventually."
"I know he will come back, I just don't know when," D'Onofrio said. "I can't wait to find out. I'm totally into the Marvel stuff, big time. I want to do Marvel, all the time. I love it so much 'cause they're so creative over there. They let you bring this whole new thing to an iconic thing that they invented. It's just so much fun. I love it to death," D'Onofrio continued, clearly excited at the prospect of working with Marvel at a later date.
