'Dark Matter' Series News: Season Two To Feature Proactive Characters
While many fans of "Dark Matter" believe that Roger Cross's Six is the traitor among the crew on the show's season one, there are reports going around that it may not be the case after all. Once the show's season two starts, it will eventually be revealed who the real enemies are.
According to the "Dark Matter" showrunner Joseph Mallozzi in his interview with The Hollywood Reporter last year, he had already mapped a five-year plan for the series. While the second season of the show hasn't even started, he said that its season finale will be even bigger than that of its first season.
Mallozzi also hinted on what viewers can expect from its season two. He said that season one was more like peeling the different layers of an onion, unveiling the characters' backstories and who they are with every episode. On the other hand, season two will feature more explosive plots, such as the past haunting the present, and the characters wrapping up their quest to their respective backstories. Mallozzi said that viewers can expect more proactive characters, a contrast to what they were during the first season.

It can be recalled on the show's two-part finale that the mercenary group was held at gunpoint because of Alexander Rook, played by Wil Wheaton, who is also responsible for the creation of Melissa O'Neil's character, Two.
Rook confirmed that Two is not human and was just a laboratory creation made of nanite technology that is far superior to others. Rook referred to Two as "Rebecca," who eventually escaped after killing Rook's team. However, Rook was just not ready to let her go.
Hence, the crew of the Raza was left with no choice as they surrendered Two and made their way out of the planet. Nonetheless, after coming up with a plan, the team made their way back with a stealth operation to rescue the lost member of their crew.
The second part of the two-hour finale zeroed in on a traitor. As Five, played by Jodelle Ferland, discovered that the Android was unconscious, the rest of the crew was placed on high alert as they searched for the perpetrators. As everybody was engulfed in the escalating tension, it came to a breaking point wherein the Raza was shot and seized by the Galactic Authority (GA). The scene that left many in shock was that it was actually Six who was in connivance with the GA to have his shipmates captured.
Or was he? If he did, was he the only traitor?
These and more will be revealed in the second season of the show.
There is no official word yet as to when the sci-fi series will return to the small screen, but reports claim that it's slated to premiere this summer. Viewers can now also expect the episodes to be titled as its season two kicks off.
