Darrelle Revis Doubts Tim Tebow, Says Jets Will Fight 'Sleep' Thursday

Although the Jets will play the Broncos on Thursday, Jets’ cornerback Darrelle Revis has his doubts about Tim Tebow’s strategy.

Revis told the New York Daily News that the Denver read option offense led by Tebow will not have staying power. The CB had a list of quarterbacks who could pull off the feat all season, and Tebow’s name was not on it.

“Yeah, if you have Michael Vick and Chris Johnson at running back,” Revis said. “Yeah, it can work. Those are probably the two fastest guys that can get out on the edge.”

The CB said the Tebow-led Broncos could not maintain their winning streak, and that he was comfortable the Jets could stop Denver.

“No. Not for a whole season,” Revis said. “We know what they’re doing. And we feel comfortable in our game plan.”

Revis said he was less concerned with stopping the Broncos, and more concerned with staying awake during the game.

“The biggest thing for the secondary is for us not to fall asleep,” Revis said. “It can get boring, especially if a team keeps on just running the ball, series after series, play after play.”

After replacing Kyle Orton as a starter, Tebow has led Denver to a 63:37 run-to-pass distribution. The QB has 41 carries for 283 yards and 43 pass attempts in four games, fumbling four times.

However Jets’ coach Rex Ryan didn’t overlook Tebow’s talent, and spoke about the importance of his team besting the Broncos on Thursday. Ryan recalled watching Tebow progress as a rookie in 2010.

"I thought he was a great competitor, I thought he was a winner and that's what he's showing now," Ryan said. "Are there prettier passers than him? Yeah, absolutely, but we have to find a way to beat him."
